Four itineraries that actually work
Built around what is open and how long the driving really takes. Each assumes a car and driver, which is the normal way to move here.
Adds Aleppo, the coast and Palmyra. Ask your operator about the current Palmyra and coast conditions before you fly.
Days 1–3
Damascus and around
As above, plus Maaloula and Bosra as separate half-days rather than one long push.
Day 4
Palmyra
Out across the desert with your licensed guide; overnight for the sunrise light.
Day 5
To Homs and Krak
Back west, castle in the afternoon, night on the coast.
Days 6–7
Latakia and Tartus
Ugarit, Saladin's Castle, and two slow days of sea and grilled fish.
Days 8–9
Aleppo
Citadel, reopened souk lanes, a soap workshop, and the best food of the trip.
Day 10
Dead Cities, then out
St Simeon's and Serjilla on the way south, or fly out of Aleppo directly.
